Whether you enjoy culture, adventure, or nature, your experiences in Peru will become memories of a lifetime.

Bolivia -  straddling the Andes, is a land of gaunt mountains, cold desolate plateau and semi tropical lowlands. It is also called the Tibet of the Americas - the highest and most isolated of the Latin American republics. A landlocked country lying astride the widest stretch of the Andean Cordillera, Bolivia spills through a maze of tortured hills and valleys into the vast forests and savannahs of the Amazon and Paraná basins. Bolivia is also the most Indian country on the continent; over 50 % of the population are of pure American Indian blood and maintain traditional cultural values and belief systems. The country offers mind-blowing landscapes, colonial treasures, colorful indigenous cultures and remnants of mysterious ancient civilizations.

Argentina – The name Argentina comes from the Latin word “argentum” (silver) and has been used since the first so called “Conquistador” (Conqueror) from Spain came to the “Rio de la Plata” (silver river). The country has 44,5 million inhabitants, many Spanish, Italians, Germans and French immigrated to Argentina, being the most European influenced country of the subcontinent.

Argentina is a fascinating land of contrasts and of unspoiled nature along its 3.694km (2.295mi.) from north to south and 1.423km (885mi.) from east to west. You can find impressive waterfalls, appealing landscapes, delicious wines, peaceful lakes, breath-taking glaciers, the world´s southernmost city also known as “the end of the world” as well as abundant wildlife. Additional airfares – TRAVEL PERU is not responsible for any changes made by the airlines and the resulting costs (i.e. airfares, schedule changes, cancellations, taxes, fuel- and other charges). Only valid for Peru:

  • Rates for hotel services are based on bookings made by non-resident foreign visitors. For nationals or foreigners resident in this country rates are not valid and a surcharge of 18% local tax applies on all hotel services. This surcharge also applies in case the booking is based on one foreign passenger and one Peruvian passenger sharing the same room.
  • For the train ride to/from Machu Picchu /Aguas Calientes only one 5kg piece of hand luggage is allowed. In Cusco the extra luggage can be stored at your hotel.
  • For the visit of Machu Picchu we recommend good shoes, the trail is without handrail and could be slippery. Walking sticks need to have a rubbery end in order to be permitted inside the Sanctuary. Bags/Backpacks bigger than 40x35x20 as well as umbrellas, selfie sticks, comestibles and plastics like bags, straws and Styrofoam are not permitted.
  • For groups travelling through Cusco please note that due to regulations in order to protect the historic buildings and streets, certain larger vehicle sizes are not allowed in some central areas of the city. This implies that that various parts of the city tour will be done walking, and in order to approach hotels groups will be split up temporarily in smaller vehicles, and some vehicles will be travelling for a short period of time without an assistant (driver only). This also applies for groups travelling in large coaches (40+ seats) in the Sacred Valley – for certain visits as well as to access Ollantaytambo train station, smaller vehicles are used for certain periods. The vehicle sizes very much depend on the exact group size.
  • Rates are not valid during International Holidays such as Christmas, Easter, New Year and Labor Day (May 01), as well as Peruvian Holidays like Inti Raymi (around June 20 to 28), Peruvian Independence Days (Fiestas Patrias July 28/29), conferences and other big events to be confirmed. Events include the Pan American Games (July 26 to August 30, 2019), PERUMIN Event in Arequipa (September 16 to 22, 2019), CADE Congress in Paracas (November 27 to 30, 2019), and OVUM Congress in Lima (October 7 to 11, 2019).

Only valid for Bolivia:

  • Citizens that require visa to enter Bolivia, need to show for entrance and exit to/from Bolivia the same passport used.
  • The official hotel category in Bolivia does not have typical European or US- standards.
  • The lodges at the Salt Lake and National Park Eduardo Avaroa are rustic and have basic facilities: water & heating. Electricity is supplied via a generator until 10pm.

During the rainy season (January-April) the itinerary at the Salt Lake is subject to modifications.

For the Salt Lake visit we recommend to bring with you:

  • Large duffel and lockable for general travel
  • Small padlock(s) for your luggage
  • A wind-proof shell or light parka
  • A light weight hiking boot
  • A good fleece jacket
  • 4-5 pair woolen socks
  • The high-altitude sun is strong and exposure frequent, so even if you do not usually burn you need a sun cream with a sun protection factor of 30-50
  • Sun-blocking lip cream
  • Dark conventional sunglasses with good UV and infrared protection
  • Wide-brim sun hat
  • Water bottle. A 1-liter, wide-mouthed type is best
  • Flashlight with extra alkaline batteries

For nationals or foreign residents in Argentina, rates are not valid and a surcharge of 21% local tax applies on all hotel services. Travel Peru will require the complete information (name and surname, nationality, country of residence, passport number) at time of booking. In some cases, we may require you to send us a copy of the passports of each passenger.
